Students from the University of the Cordilleras – College of Architecture and Fine Arts (UC-CAFA) continue to bring pride as their design entry advances to the final stage of the ArchiNEXT: HCG Young Designers’ Competition 2026.
Representing the Design 5 studio are Jan Paul Toquero, Adia Camille Sy, Nicole Anne Chiong, and Khlishta Nicole Nazarro, whose project appears as Entry 5 in the competition’s public voting category.
Their project has already reached an important milestone. From hundreds of inspiring submissions, 240 entries advanced through Initial Screening- and now the Magic 48 have been selected to proceed to final judging. Entry 5 from UC-CAFA proudly stands among these selected finalists.
A National Platform for Young Designers
The ArchiNEXT competition gathers architecture students from across the Philippines and challenges them to develop design proposals that respond to contemporary architectural needs.
For the 2026 edition, the competition carries the theme “LIPARAN: Crafting Gateways That Connect Cultures.” Participants are tasked to design regional airport terminals that express local culture while providing functional and welcoming spaces for travelers.
The design challenge encourages students to treat airports as more than transport facilities. These terminals act as gateways that introduce visitors to the culture and identity of a region while supporting tourism and regional growth.
