UC-Architecture Faculty Earns 2nd Place in Regional Research Symposium

UC College of Engineering and Architecture proudly congratulates its Architecture research team for winning 2nd Place in the Poster Category at the 14th Joint CIEERDEC and CorCAARRD Regional Symposium on Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) Highlights, held in conjunction with the 7th Student Congress at Benguet State University.

The winning research, titled “Transforming Urban Dynamics: Implementing a 15-Minute City Model for Sustainable Development in Tuba, Benguet,” represents UC’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable urban planning and design research in the Cordillera region. The study explores how the 15-Minute City framework- an urban model emphasizing accessibility, walkability, and sustainability- can be adapted to local contexts to improve community livability and resilience.

This recognition follows the team’s earlier success at UC’s 7th Agency In-House Review for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology (IEET), where the same study earned 3rd Place in the Poster Presentation category. The research’s consistent recognition at both institutional and regional levels underscores UC’s strong foundation in urban design innovation and sustainability research.

The symposium, organized by the Department of Science and Technology–Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR), CIEERDEC, and CorCAARRD, brought together over 78 research papers from leading academic institutions in the region. It served as a platform for promoting collaborative research across disciplines, showcasing initiatives that contribute to both technological advancement and community development.

The College commends the Architecture faculty for representing UC with excellence and for contributing to the region’s growing body of research on sustainable cities, urban innovation, and inclusive development.

Congratulations to the UC Architecture research team for this outstanding achievement!
Your work continues to build bridges between research, practice, and the pursuit of a more sustainable future.

This achievement supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting research-based learning and innovation, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by contributing to sustainable urban planning models, and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) through research aimed at developing accessible and resilient communities. It also reflects SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by strengthening collaboration between academia, government, and research consortia.
