UC-CEA Ar. Irene G. Florendo Conferred as UAP Fellow for Advancing Architectural Education

Architect Irene G. Florendo, faculty member of UC College of Engineering and Architecture, has been conferred the title of Fellow by the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) College of Fellows for her outstanding contributions to architectural education.

Among the 16 conferred fellows, Ar. Florendo played a key role in founding the first Master of Architecture program in the Cordilleras and Northern Luzon. She also led the MSC Transnational Education Program, which enables overseas Filipino workers in the UAE to pursue advanced degrees while remaining employed.

She is a dedicated professor, researcher, and a strong advocate for international academic collaboration.

The UAP College of Fellows honors architects with exceptional service to the profession and organization, serving as role models and upholding the highest standards of practice and public service.

The conferment ceremony was held on April 10, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center during the UAP’s 50th National Convention.

Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), the recognition of Ar. Irene G. Florendo as a Fellow of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) College of Fellows supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) through her leadership in advancing higher architectural education and transnational learning opportunities. It promotes SDG 5 (Gender Equality) by highlighting women’s leadership in architecture, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through her contributions to innovative and research-driven design education, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering international academic collaboration and global knowledge exchange.
