UC-Architecture Students Present Innovative Designs for the Jacques Rougerie International Competition

The University of the Cordilleras (UC) showcased the creativity and forward-thinking spirit of its architecture students during the Jacques Rougerie 13th International Architecture and Innovation Competition, held on July 19 and 20, 2023, at the UC Auditorium.

Students from Architectural Design 7 presented their design proposals inspired by the competition’s vision of exploring the future of architecture through innovation, sustainability, and technology. The event challenged participants to push the boundaries of conventional design thinking, addressing real-world problems through bold, imaginative, and solution-driven architectural concepts.

The presentations reflected UC’s strong commitment to developing architects who not only design structures but also envision solutions that respond to environmental, social, and technological challenges. Each entry demonstrated originality, creativity, and a deep understanding of how architecture can shape a more sustainable and resilient future.

The event was organized in partnership with UAPSA–UC (United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary–University of the Cordilleras Chapter), which expressed heartfelt appreciation to all who contributed to the success of the program. Gratitude was extended to the guest speakers, jurors, student presenters, and organizers who devoted their time and expertise to make the two-day event an enriching and inspiring experience.

Through activities like this, UC continues to strengthen its position as a center for architectural excellence and innovation, preparing students to become global thinkers and design leaders in a rapidly evolving built environment.

The event supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing a platform for experiential learning and critical thinking in architectural design. It contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the development of forward-looking and technology-driven architectural solutions. It also aligns with SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by encouraging students to design resilient, adaptive, and sustainable built environments that respond to future challenges. Lastly, it upholds SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration among UC, UAPSA–UC, guest professionals, and academic mentors, fostering a culture of shared learning and innovation.
