The Baguio City Government honored outstanding research advisers and student researchers during its December 16, 2024 flag-raising ceremony, recognizing their contributions to the city’s evidence-based governance and development. Among those celebrated were the University of the Cordilleras (UC) College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) faculty members and student researchers whose works have significantly contributed to shaping sustainable urban and environmental solutions for Baguio City.
The recognition highlighted the strong and continuing partnership between the City Government and local academic institutions, including UC, Saint Louis University (SLU), and the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) Baguio City Chapter. This collaboration demonstrates how academic research plays a vital role in guiding public policy, city planning, and community-based development initiatives.
UC’s architecture researchers have produced studies that focus on urban sustainability, environmental management, and design innovation, addressing issues such as urban livability, climate adaptation, and green infrastructure. Their research has become a key resource for developing data-driven, community-responsive, and ecologically sound solutions for the city’s growth.
This recognition reflects the city’s acknowledgment of the critical role of academic institutions in evidence-based urban governance. By integrating research into local policymaking, Baguio City strengthens its capacity to address urban challenges through informed, sustainable, and collaborative approaches.
The University of the Cordilleras- College of Engineering and Architecture extends its congratulations to all the awardees and expresses gratitude to the Baguio City Government for continuing to value research as a foundation for progress.
